Still Getting Fit
I’m coming up on the two year anniversary of this blog. So I want to take this opportunity to reflect and be honest with myself and you, the reader.
I’ve wanted to quit this blog several times. I’ve had more failures than successes. I haven’t lost very much weight. I blah blah blah blah
Enough with the negative. Overall, this blog has been a positive experience. I’ve done some pretty cool things, got to meet new people, and tested myself in ways I didn’t think possible. Through many of you, I’ve armed myself with knowledge to be a healthier, better person. And most importantly, I feel healthier now than I did two years ago. I feel like I’m truly on a path towards a lifetime of fitness, not just a quick fix or fad diet.
For the sake of review, and because I like lists, here are some highlights (and lowlights) of the blog so far:
- breaking a sweat at Snap Fitness
- running in Warrior Dash with some good friends
- running my first 5K
- trying Crossfit
- when I joined that cool, trendy gym
- Herbalife (what was I thinking?)
- learning to count calories and log workouts using apps (LoseIt and MyFitnessPal)
- reading lots of books and articles
- watching good documentaries
- growing a garden with my wife
- swimming, biking, running and basketball playing more than I would have had this blog not existed
Thank you all for your support, feedback and patience with me as I try to transform from an overweight desk jockey into to a fit person. Stay with me, and we can all get better together.
